You can colour me a happy camper: since it was first introduced a quarter century or so ago, Kensington's entry has consistently been the very best and most rugged trackball you can buy. What's the best wireless mouse for your Mac, whether a desktop or laptop like the powerful M1 Pro/Max MacBook Pro? There are plenty of advantages to using a wireless mouse. They promptly and cheerfully sent me a brand-new replacement. and thus it was still under warranty, with only a few weeks to spare. They checked my serial# and then proceeded to inform me that I had owned it "only" about 4 years and 10 months. I once had a Kensington unit wear out on me (and only one in all these years) I phoned them to order another one and to praise how that unit had endured all the slings & and arrows of years of abuse that I had perpetrated upon it. And with a terrific (5 year) warranty to back it up. Kensington's Expert Mouse is not only much faster in operation and more efficient than any mouse, it's also built like a Tiger tank. One problem that trackballs completely solve is the situation where the mouse moves slightly every time you click, or release the button. (There are slimmer trackballs for less space) But if you're on a regular work space, that's not an issue at all. The *only* thing I would keep in mind is you do need some vertical clearance. (On the order of once/month or less for me.) It's very easy to take the ball out to clean the interior, because over time dust and natural oils from your hand will reduce performance.

This device has four buttons, all of which are programmable through their app, and a scroll wheel that surrounds the trackball itself. Since the trackball housing doesn't move, a wire doesn't get in the way, so there is no worry about recharging it. I particularly like this model because it's wired.

The motion is much more in the fingertips. For me, trackball mice are much more comfortable than regular mice, because you're not moving your wrist nearly as much.
